Visiting Leavenworth
Leavenworth is nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains in North Central Washington. We are 80 miles, 2.5 - 3 hours from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and only 35 miles, 45 - 60 minutes, from Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee. Though we are a small town, you will need your own transportation to get around as our program is not within walking distance of town.
Residential trainings are hosted at Mountain Sprouts' Evergreen location, Tierra Learning & Retreat Center. On-site accommodations are available through Tierra - rent a room at the retreat center or camp in Barn Canyon adjacent to the preschool (Tents, vans, RV’s welcome!). Contact Hannah, director, for more information: hannah@mtnsprouts.org
As a tourist town, Leavenworth has many other accomodations available as well. Peruse local hotels, check out listings on Air B n B, or find a place to stay through the local vacation rental company Love Leavenworth. Many families within in our community also provide free home-stays for visiting educators. If you’re interested in a homestay, contact Hannah, director, for more information: hannah@mtnsprouts.org
While you’re here, check out some of the amazing food and activities our town has to offer:
Breakfast: Argonaut Coffee and Biscuits, Bavarian Bagel Co., Leavenworth Coffee & Waffles, Lupine Market
Lunch: Lupine Market, Danwiches from Dan’s Market (head to the bakery in the back to order your custom sandwhich or wrap! A true local secret), Sausage from Munchen Haus in town
Dinner: Yodelin Broth Co., Blewett Brewing Pizza & Beer, The Loft if you want a good burger, and, of course, any of the bavarian themed restaurants or breweries for authentic sausage, kraut, pretzels, and beer: Icicle Brewing, Munchen Haus, Rein Haus.

The Cedarsong Way® Nature Pedagogy is distinguished by a commitment to significant outdoor time and complete nature immersion, allowing for unstructured flow learning, authentic play, a child-inspired emergent curriculum, place-based focus, and an inquiry-based teaching style. Nature Immersion, as Erin Kenny defined it, is “unstructured free time in nature, resulting in an intimate, deep and personal connection to the natural world.” The Cedarsong Way® is also a compassion-scaffolded method of teaching, where educators guide and coach children toward being respectful, mindful, aware of and empathetic toward all living beings.
